Let’s start by defining “family” health insurance. You may obtain family health insurance in a variety of ways. For those that do not have access to health insurance through their employer, individual health insurance is the next most common way that families obtain medical insurance. A less common method, and one that most families do not qualify for, is state-sponsored health insurance through a Medicaid program or State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).
