Gonorrhea Superbug
Scientists have discovered the first “superbug” strain of gonorrhea – a discovery they are calling “both alarming and predictable.” Identified in Japan, the H041 strain is resistant towards the class of antibiotics, called cephalosporins, typically employed to treat the sexually transmitted disease (STD).
Gonorrhea has grown to be progressively resistant to antibiotics for a number of years now, as well as the percentage of cephalosporin-resistant gonorrhea instances inside the U.S. is about the rise.
